On the Louvre side of this section is a courtyard surrounded by open collonades with a striking sculpture giant silvery steel balls by Paul Bury. Next to that is the Cour d'Honneur, with a multi-part art piece of pillars of various heights by Daniel Buren, a favorite place for children's games.
On the Louvre side are the government offices of the Conseil d'État (National Council) and the national theatre, La Comédie Française.
