Museo de Arte de Lima
City Center, Cusco

Museo de Arte de Lima
A very interesting collection that includes some lovely Paracas textiles, a large model of the Nasca geoglyphs, and striking Chancay anthropomorphic pottery. The cultural rupture caused by the Spanish invasion is reflected in the a radical change in the artistic lineage, and the collection includes some particularly good anonymous early Christian paintings as well as more modern work, with many by Carlos Boca-Flor, a native son who emigrated to France in the late 19th Century. The building was constructed as the Palacio de la Exposicion de 1872, and served for awhile as City Hall. The museum also offers many classes. There is nice cafe on the ground floor.
