Easily the best street market in Paris for second-hand treasures at low prices. Higher quality than most; friendly vendors. There is often a good street pianist where the market turns.

If you handle the merchandise, make eye contact and say "Bonjour" to the vendor. If you do not speak French, take a pencil and paper so you can be understood using numbers.

Look over the merchandise well. This conversation was overheard this morning between a Parisienne and a vendor:

--Are these dishes a set?

--Yes, they are.

PAUSE

--Say, these dishes aren't at all from the same set; these have scallops on them...

--OK, OK. What's on display is what's being offered for sale.

Take an immediate left at place de la Porte de Vanves (the sign will be high on the wall to your left). The edge of the market is on the other side of the next cross-street.

hours: open every week-end of the year, with no exception : - from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. (avenue Marc Sangnier) ; - from 7 a.m. to 3-5 p.m. depending on tradesmen (avenue Georges Lafenestre). Early Saturday is the best time.
