Chestnut trees and sculpture abound. Spectacular planting around the reflecting pond (where children push wooden boats with long sticks), elegant landscaped "rooms". Many musical performances. Pony rides and puppet shows, tennis and basketball courts, pétanque. Beehives and garden plantings (southwest end) left over from when part of the land was a Chartreuse monastery. The apiculturist gives weekly classes and sells honey in September.

Managed by the Senate, the national body that advises on policy, the Luxembourg offers more cultural activities than most cities; what is listed here only scratches the surface. Notable are the changing exhibitions on photography on the north fence, and of sculpture throughout the gardens.
